This section will show you rebuttals to gun control lies and deceptions, current gun control bills in US Congress and examples of why it is not possible to ban all firearms.
Protecting the 2nd amendment of the US Constitution is important for all of our constitutional rights. If they are able to subvert the 2nd Amendment then the same can be expect of all the rest. Not only is the 2nd amendment important to the founders but to us individually. Law enforcement can not stand guard by our side 24/7. Our firearms can however. Remember hurricane Katrina, no phones, no police, criminals run rampant? The only thing between them and your family was your firearm. Will you still have a firearm next time a new disaster happens? Or will you and your family become another number in the annual slaughter count?
There already is firearms sales tracking, every sale must be permanently record by the licensed gun seller. The only exception is a private sale in states where such sales are allowed. This record includes the buyer's ID, social security number, sworn statement about criminal record etc. This is true at gun shows as well, the so-called loophole is only that the instant background check phone call is optional in some states.
All modern assault rifles (weapons) are capable of full auto fire. No army in the world uses assault weapons without full auto capability. Such firearms are ALREADY very illegal.
We are only allowed castrated copies that are NOT capable of full auto fire. They can be self loading only. To ban firearms by their appearance only is like banning cars with spoilers because they look like race cars. The new administration is showing it's ignorance by claiming a new Assault Weapon Ban would ban firearms used on battlefields. Duh, those are already illegal!
A new AWB will do nothing to prevent crime. At a legal minimum length of 26 inches they are impossible to hide for criminal use. So-called assault weapons offer several desirable features: 1) removable magazine that makes loading and unloading quick, easy and SAFE, 2) stock is usually short or adjustable making it suited for a woman's shorter reach, 3) ability to accept muzzle brake to reduce recoil, 4) a pistol grip that makes rifle easier to hold. A note about safety, guns without removable magazines are dangerous to unload. This is because the action has to be cycled by hand (instead of being fired) to eject every round. This is very dangerous as the weapon is cocked and ready to fire. Removable magazines allow all rounds to be removed without any being ready to fire. Far safer.
Banning these castrated copies will do nothing about the Mexican drug cartel fighting. They get their weapons from South America, including REAL assault rifles. Click here to see LA Times article.
Mass shootings of the past 5 years have much in common, besides the shooter being male and using firearms. 60% showed signs of serious mental illness leading up the the shootings. 20% were members of law enforcement. 60% had planned the shootings well ahead. The obvious conclusion is that aggressive treatment of mental illness, including court ordered treatment, would have likely prevented most of the shootings. Persons found mentally incompetent, that is court ordered treatment, can not legally buy or purchase firearms. This would have made preparation much more difficult for the 67% involving legal firearm purchases.. Since 60% involved preparation ahead it is likely that deadly weapons to replace firearms would have been obtained. Indeed several times primitive bombs were also used. Of special interest is that 20% of these shootings involved members of law enforcement, 2nd only to mental illness as a warning sign.

The Brady Campaign has a long history of distortions and outright lies. Typical is the claim that eliminating gun will eliminate the homicides, suicides, etc. If someone wants to commit suicide then lack of a gun won't stop them. If someone wants to kill then lack of a gun won't stop them either. In fact guns draw too much attention committing murder, knives are much quieter and easier to hide. One of the worst lies is that the more restrictive gun laws are the safer the state/district is. Brady grades states each year on gun restrictions, A through F. (This is equivalent to 4.0 through 0.0 grading.) Using Brady grades and FBI violent crime statistics we find that this claim is obviously an outright lie. THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN GUN CONTROL AND VIOLENT CRIME. The graphs below compare Brady Grades to FBI violent crime statistics for 2004, the latest available data.

Hi Yanks, I thought you
all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.
It has
now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new
law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by
our
own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500
million dollars.
The first year results are now
in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2
percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6
percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent
(yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides
with firearms are now up 300 percent.
(Note that while the
law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and
criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the
previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with
firearms, this has changed drastically upward in
the past 12
months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is
unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins
and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at
home.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how
public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense
was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns.'
You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor
or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.
The
Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest
citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect
only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note Americans, before
it's too late!
Most sexual assaults are
not reported, per women's rights groups. This means the assaults
probably went up 18% or more! Is this what we want to happen here in
the US?
Recently 5 women in a Chicago suburban store were lined up and executed by a criminal in a botched robbery. That mall was a gun free zone, ensuring that no one could protect themselves. The killer has never been found. A shooting at a mall in Omaha, Nebraska, USA was similar. The shooter used a castrated copy of an AK-47, which could fire only one shot per pull on the trigger. No one, not even “mall security” was armed. He could have used a rust ax just as easily. He stopped killing only when he decided to stop, not one person was able to protect themselves. Every idiot copycat will get their moment of fame doing the same thing.
Gun bans cause witness intimidation: Consider people who stand up against crime and file charges. Their names and (usually) home address is given to the criminal and his/her lawyer. There is no way the police will protect the victims, the victims have to do that themselves, requiring firearms. All too often victims and witnesses say nothing because they are afraid, letting criminals go free.
Sexual assaults on women continue to rise in the vicinity of colleges and universities. Since these are “gun free zones” the creeps know their victims are unarmed. In fact most campuses ban pepper spray and other means of self defense, making criminals very well protected. So our young women must choose between being raped or being arrested.
Most women are unable to fight off an attacker. Women are genetically smaller and weaker than men on average. Women need an effective means to offset the attackers advantage. This is what firearms are designed for. Having a firearm doesn't mean you have to shoot someone. Most criminals will run at the sight of a gun. Those who do not are begging to be shot and you might just have to do that. If you say you could never shoot someone think of this: you are choosing the life of a violent criminal over your own life or the lives of your family. Speaking of family, if you have kids lock up your gun with a trigger lock or lock box. Keep the key on you so it only takes a minute to unlock. Or remove the load magazine, leaving no bullets in your firearm. Magazines are small and much easier to lock away or hide.
Elderly people lack the strength to fight off typically younger attackers. These criminals don't need gun, their fists are enough. For example a gentle old man named Patrick McEwen was beaten to death in his home by a stranger. That was in quiet little town of Iowa City. It is the elderly that need a gun, but not just any gun. Old bones and joints can't handle a powerful hunting rifle or shotgun. Self loading handguns are too difficult to chamber the first round. Revolvers solve this problem, but are difficult to load and unload due to small size of ammo. Small light weight self loading rifles are best. These are self loading copies of assault rifles like the AK-47. These are castrated copies that do not have full auto fire capability. These copies retain several important features: 1) ability to accept a muzzle brake to reduce recoil, 2) pistol grip for easy holding, 3) removable high capacity magazines allowing easy loading and unloading, 4) simple pull and release mechanism to load the first round. Any new Assault Weapon Ban discriminates against the elderly.
This argument completely ignores other firearm uses. Many people enjoy target shooting, both individually or competitively. Many people have firearms for home defense. Violent home invasions are all too common, sometimes with residents being murdered. Sexual assaults in the home are way too common and under reported. Burglaries are even more common and can unexpectedly turn violent. Many people are licensed for concealed carry of a handgun. Typically this is needed by people carrying large amounts of cash like night cash deposits, victims/witnesses of violent crime, private security at malls, etc, etc. All of these uses have nothing to do with hunting but are just as legitimate of use.
When politicians say they support hunting what they really mean is “I don't give a damn about you and I won't let you have a firearm to protect you and your family.”
Banning all guns won't make them go away. Law abiding citizens will turn in their guns. Criminals will still be supplied by the black market. Guns are easy and profitable to smuggle in. The government can't stop thousands of people from just walking across the border every week. What makes anyone think that they can stop people from walking across the border carrying a load of guns? Even if it could, firearms are easy to make. In fact the easiest to make are the most deadly. Ammunition is stockpiled every where. It is easy to reload fired cases, hobbyists do that all the time. Ammo can also be easily smuggled in too. Here are some examples of easy to make firearms (for educational use only):

Roughly half of all law enforcement officer shootings are by the officer's own weapon. Needless to say those same weapons will be used to commit more crimes. Consider that every patrol car has a riot gun or rifle as well. That makes for a very tempting and profitable target if guns get harder to obtain. Effectively a gun ban will put a bounty on the lives of all officers. Beware of the law of unintended consequences! For example when cheap “Saturday night special” handguns were banned criminals started using powerful 9mm guns. As a result shootings have become much deadlier, both to the target and bystanders. That effort at gun control has cost the lives of thousands!
Think knives, baseball bats, hammers, fists, 2x4's, tire irons, large wrenches, pipes.... etc. etc. Criminals will use what is at hand, especially when they don't have to worry about armed victims.
Bombs are used every day in the Middle East, with horrendous results. Instructions can be found on the Internet and in books.
And don't forget the old favorite, a gasoline fire bomb. In Chechnya these destroyed tanks, never mind killing police and soldiers.
No examples are given here as I do not want to encourage bomb making. The Oklahoma City bombing used fertilizer and fuel oil, it doesn't get any easier than that.
